Defence Industry Internship Program cohort commences

Clearbox Systems is thrilled to welcome on board three new interns for the summer months (and hopefully beyond!).

Pictured during our mocktail hour last Friday are Angus Palmer, Kelly Evans and Isabella Federle who are all engineering student from the Australian National University. They are already actively contributing across our Space Domain Awareness and Satellite Communications projects.

They have been placed through the successful Defence Industry Internship Program (DIIP) that seeks to increase awareness of career opportunities in defence industry and provide student interns with the opportunity to gain real-world work experience in a growing sector.

About Angus:

I'm approaching my final year of a Bachelor of Engineering, majoring in Mechatronics and minoring in Renewable Energy Systems at the ANU. I was thrilled to be offered an internship at Clearbox through the Defence Industry Internship Program, particularly because of their involvement in SATCOM control and the enormous wealth of experience amongst the staff. I hope to use the experience to develop my systems engineering skills and can't wait to see what else the next 12 weeks have to offer.

About Kelly:

My name is Kelly, and I am studying a Bachelor of Engineering majoring in Mechatronics, and a Bachelor of International Security Studies minoring in War Studies at the ANU. I am really excited to be doing my internship at Clearbox Systems to get an insight into how the engineering and defence industries intersect and work together, and to develop my technical engineering skills in a real-world project. While I am not studying, I like to play tennis and go bushwalking.

About Isabella:

My name is Isabella Federle. I was born in Sydney, grew up in Germany before moving to Canberra in 2011. I am currently studying at ANU to complete a double degree at in Engineering -Mechatronics; and Science - Chemistry and Computer Science. Having interest in the development of Machine Learning, I thought Clearbox Systems was the perfect match for me and an opportunity that I was excited to accept. I love being part of the Space Domain Awareness team, assisting their R&D cell in the development of next generation Passive RF capability. I am very excited to follow through on their developing projects and expand upon my software skills under the guidance of Travis and the team. Jeremy and Clearbox has been a patient and accepting environment, that has allowed me the confidence to have a go and embed myself within the group alongside Sam, Kriti and Noor. I know the skills I enhance with Clearbox will allow me to excel in my future endeavours. In my spare time I love to play sports like Oztag, Touch footy and Ultimate frisbee. I have an overweight cat named Paloma, that I love very much.
