Wifi creator, David Skellern, to Chair CSIRO spin-off Quasar Satellite Technologies

Great news for our portfolio company, Quasar Satellite Technologies, with the appointment of legendary Australian scientist and deeptech entrepreneur David Skellern, a member of the original team that built the world’s first WiFi chipset, as the Chair of the Board of Directors.

The venture capital backed QuasarSat was founded in early 2021 with $8.6 million in seed funding to develop commercial applications for the CSIRO’s Phased Array technology, developed as a part of the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) project.

Quasar is deploying a network of phased array ground stations providing space data as a service - making space accessible for everyone.

Clearbox Systems helped found Quasar alongside other Australian Industry partners (Fleet Space Technologies, Saber Astronautics and Vocus), Main Sequence and CSIRO in order to commercialise CSIRO's world leading phased array technology that is used to discover the mysteries of the universe by Radio Astronomers.
