Land Forces 2021 Wrap Up – a focus on superiority in the electromagnetic environment

Clearbox Systems is pleased to have concluded a successful return to face-to-face trade show events at the Land Forces 2021 Exhibition held in Brisbane.

On display was our deep capabilities in Communications Network Management, Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations and Distributed ISREW.

Day 1

On Day 1 we were pleased to welcomed Australian Minister for Defence Industry, The Hon. Melissa Price MP, with whom we discussed our work helping Defence manage their Communications Networks with a particular focus on our future efforts in Defence's Future SATCOM Program, JP9102, where we are the only Australian provide of the SATCOM Network Control Segment software capability.

Day 1 also saw the beginning trend of conversation towards how Defence can gain superiority in the Electromagnetic Spectrum environment through quality sensing and data, and powerful planning and management capability, such as that provide by our Foresight and Spectre products.

Day 2

A real highlight of the whole exhibition was the opportunity for our wider team to reconnect with Industry and Defence colleagues for the first time after the pandemic-induced hiatus. Especially the amazing Clare Farrugia who was attending her first trade show conference. Clare showed grace and poise, and considerable charm in conversing with Ministers, Generals and Industry Executives.

Day 2 commenced with the NSW Defence and Industry Breakfast hosted by Investment NSW. It was great to meet with and hear from Minister Stuart Ayres and Investment NSW CEO Amy Brown as they spoke about the NSW support for Defence Industry and business in general as the economy recovers from the pandemic.

We finished up the day at the Conference dinner where we heard similar themes from the Queensland Government and Treasurer Cameron Dick. Chief of Army LTGEN Rick Burr also spoke, talking about Army's challenge of 'Accelerated Warfare' and how Industry is helping Army meet the challenge by being 'Ready Now and Future Ready'.

Day 3

The final day finished not with a whimper, but with a crescendo as the pace of interaction increased. Two definite themes of the exhibition were:

  1. A (welcome) renewed focus on exploiting the electromagnetic environment
  2. Deep thinking about how software programs can be delivered better by making use of commercial best practice.
